“Fly Tying Basics” is a page I’m putting together to get the newbie tier started fly tying.

Fly tying is the second part of the fly fishing sport. Almost all fly fisherman end up taking a shot at tying their own flies. 

Once you learn a few of the basics, tying your own flies is a simple, relaxing way to save money on flies.

There is hardly anything more satisfying in fly fishing as catching a fish on a fly you tied yourself. 

Fly tying is also a great hobby to help get you through cabin fever when Mother Nature says it’s not time to fish yet.
